CHRISTMAS HAUL!!!
The World of Ice & Fire by George R.R. Martin was #1 on my wishlist for Christmas. I have heard a lot of negative things about this book, some because its not Winds of Winter (haha!), and other because it is too history oriented. Personally, I love learning about history, and to learn more about the back story from my favorite epic fantasy trilogy is going to be awesome. And if I don’t think book has some incredible art in.
Also, I was lucky enough to collectors edition or whatever you want to call it for this book. I was so afraid to open or even touch it!
Then going along with the Game of Thrones theme I got the A Feast of Ice & Fire.
I love cooking, I love Game of Thrones. This should be a good time.
The First Law Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie has been on my TBR for the longest time! I unfortunately has not been able to find any used version of these books instore or online, that was both in somewhat good condition and cheeper than just buying a new copy.
I have set up for #3 on this years TBR list.
What I do have set for #1 this is Prince of Thorns! I already owned books 2 and 3 from this series, but like The First Law Trilogy, count find book 1 for a cheap, used price. So naturally, I put it on my Christmas list!
I just started this yesterday, and damn! This is grimdark!
I know this post is very past the holiday, but sometimes life gets in the way. You know how it is. But please tell me, what good books or bookish things did you get for the holidays?

Abercrombie is really awesome. The only person I’ve read who tops him for characterisation is Robin Hobb.

I’ve been real excited to read Abercrombie;s books. I plan on getting to them after I finished the Riyria Revelations, which I started a few days ago, but we all how plans can with the TBR list haha

Riyria is another fun series. Starts small, but becomes very epic in scope. I’m so looking forward to MJS’s new series next year!

This is my first go at Sullivan, and I have to say, I’m have problems putting the book down. I’m really enjoying writing.
I’ve heard that about the series. I’m a little over 200 pages in but I can see him setting down a foundation here and there for things to really expand. Also, it has a big map haha
I like Joyce and Hadrian a lot too. At this point their development is still pretty basic – their contrasting personalities yet work together as a team – but they are each unique enough that I see as we learn more of their backstory and the story advances, they could have a good dynamic and I’m guessing some type of conflict.

He actually has two books out, a prequel, in which we see how they became Riyria. Trust me, there’s conflict, hah.

I know, I’m partially afraid and hoping that I’m going to like Revelations so much that I’m going to dive into Chronicles right away.
And good! I like conflict! I hate the drama it can cause in my stories, but I can’t get enough of it!
