The Friday Face-Off Winner is…

Bantam Spectra – US Cover; Cover Art by Steve Stone

Aside from the colors, theses covers are basically identical. Same font style and placement, and the actual image, while they are different, look extremely similar.

I do prefer the actual image on the UK Cover; it’s a very nice green (it makes me think of the Market Square where they have all the sharks fight!) and the US cover it basically just silver and purple – but that silver on top of purple… it is shinning! It POPS! And just love it so much more.

Which cover do you think is the best?

I like both these covers so for me this is is a tie. I like the purple and silver cover which is basically a shot of Piazza San Marco in Venice and very appropriate for this book given the setting but I think the green cover has a lovely fantasy feel and i just love the guy sitting atop the post with the building in the background.
    Lynn 😀

  2. I don’t know, I kind of like both of them. At least they both capture the atmosphere better this version!

I love them both! Both use a beautiful colour palette and have fantastic imagery (including Piazza San Marco!) I think I have a soft spot for the UK cover though. I too love the figure on the post and its wonderful city image. It might just tip the balance!

I love the US cover. I tried to find it in stores but couldn’t, unfortunately.

  5. I love the US cover because it is purple (my favourite colour). I actually had a copy of the US edition but I lent it and never got it back 😦 I really do need to invest in a new copy, perhaps the UK edition as that is gorgeous too 🙂

  6. Never realised the purple and silver one was the US cover, my local Tesco has a second hand book table and had a copy a while ago, even though I’d read the book on the Kindle I picked up that copy for a matter of pennies. 🙂

  7. For pennies?! Insanely jealous. *New* copies of that are selling for close to $100… if I found a decent used version, I’d grab that in a second.

And here is how I found out it was US or UK:
