The Friday Face-Off Winner is…

Orb Books – US Cover; Cover art by Stephan Martiniere

The only thing I don’t like about the US cover is the color brightness! They look slightly… dull. If you just turn up the brightness, just a tad bit, those red flags and streamers, and the yellow glare from the Sun being the tower would POP!

The UK cover… the book is called “Season of War” and you’re telling me, the genius idea for a cover was “a red background, with basic white front for the title, and one generic looking soldier”. There US cover has a whole squadron of soldiers on horseback ready to charge!

Notice that have different titles for the US and UK omnibuses?

Which cover do you think is the best?

I prefer the US cover too and I agree about it’s color but I wish the tone varied. From a afar, the colors seem to blend too much into each other.

  2. Great choice! I wasn’t even aware of any other covers for this series. I have the first book from when I picked it up at a book sale, I’ve heard wonderful things about it!

Stephen Martiniere always knows how to create some gorgeous cover art! I’m definitely with you on this one – the US cover wins hands down. I quite like those deep reds an oranges although the typeface is a little off and distracting from the whole.

I’ve always wanted to read Daniel Abraham… and mostly because of the covers!!! 😀
