With this week theme being a cover that depicts something dealing with death, the idea of zombies or something with a battlefield did come to mind immediately, but when then I was causing through my book and saw Pirate Latitudes. Personally, when I think of pirate, death isn’t the first thing that comes to mind, but one of the first thing does is their plan – which has a skull and cross bones!
Totally agree with your pick. I’ve always found this cover memorable, even though I have never read the book.

Don’t read it. Unless you are a HUGE Crichton fan, and have read every other novel of his, don’t read this lol

Oh I completely agree with your decision – what a very nifty book choice you made this week:). I also LOVE the intense orange in the UK cover – both are beautiful and eye-catching. Many thanks for swinging by my site earlier and taking the trouble to comment.

I totally agree with that bright orange, but I think the ship is too small and the title and author name take up too much of the cover.

I wasn’t even aware this book had a UK cover! I don’t know, maybe I’m just so sick and tired of looking at the US one since I see it everywhere, but I really dig the “red seas, red skies” look with the silhouette of the ship!

The UK one did remind me a lot of “red seas, red skies” when I first looked at it too! I think Lynchs cover artist did it better though 😛

Completely agree… but they do have a similar ‘look’ about them. They’re definitely styled in a similar way… but can’t go wrong with a skull and crossbones!

The skull bone and cross, with the blood read sky and lightening bolt would have been a cool combo.
