Author Interview: Crymsyn Hart

Today I am interviewing Crymsyn Hart, author of the new horror/dark fantasy novel, Death’s Revival, second book in the Deathly Encounter series.

◊  ◊  ◊

DJ: Hey Crymsyn! (Cool name, by the way) Thanks for stopping by to do this interview!

For readers who aren’t familiar with you, could you tell us a little about yourself?

Crymsyn Hart: Thank you so much for having me. I have been writing for over ten years with over eighty books out. I work a conservative day job in the Insurance industry. When I’m not writing, I’m tucked away watching some horror movies or hanging with my husband and three dogs.

DJ: Before we go into details about Death’s Revival, for readers who haven’t started the series yet, what is the Deathly Encounter series about?

Crymsyn: The Deathly Encounters series is about trying to fix one bad decision that spirals out of control and other decisions are made to try and fix the original bad choice. Then of course you throw in grim reapers, psychics, and a few wayward spirits.

DJ: What were some of your influences for the Deathly Encounter series?

Crymsyn: One of my main influences for writing the Deathly Encounters series was my work as a psychic and my experiences I have had just being me. And of course you throw in the angel of death and grim reapers so it rounds it all off.

DJ: Now on to your new book: What is Death’s Revival about?

Crymsyn: Death’s Revival is about a serial killer who is murdering psychics. Each death helps to open up a gateway to the underworld and fuel the true bad guy to help him escape. Kerstin, our heroine, is a grim reaper and psychic who has been tasked with stopping the serial killer before he can release the ultimate evil into the world.

DJ: What is the universe/world for the Deathly Encounter series like?

Crymsyn:The universe Deathly Encounters series takes place is really is just like our own. Maybe a slight step to the left where some of the characters have some more interesting psychic powers, but all in all most humans are just regular people. Of course the grim reapers have powers because they are taking the dead to where they are supposed to be going.

DJ: Could you briefly tell us a little about your main characters? Do they have any cool quirks or habits, or any reason why readers will sympathize with them?

Crymsyn: My main character is Kerstin. She is a grim reaper, but she never lost her abilities as being a psychic. She has a relationship with another reaper and is forced back to become human once more by her boss. This puts her right back where she started. She has to find the balance of becoming human again, trying not to get killed, and then having a relationship.

DJ: What was your favorite part about writing Death’s Revival?

Crymsyn: I don’t really have a favorite part. I enjoyed the whole book.

DJ: What do you think readers will be talking about most once they finish it?

Crymsyn: Hopefully the readers will be wondering what will be happening after the end of the Death’s Revival because the Big Bad is not who you think it is. Book three answers that questions.

DJ: What is your goal in writing the Deathly Encounter series? Death’s Revival is only the second book, but is there a particular message or meaning you are hoping to get across to readers when it is finally told?

Crymsyn: My original goal, honestly, when writing the Deathly Encounters series is just to write them for me. I enjoy writing about grim reapers, ghosts, psychics, and other things that interest me. I’d be happy that readers enjoy the books. But I wrote them to get the characters out of my head.

DJ: When I read, I love to collect quotes – whether it be because they’re funny, foodie, or have a personal meaning to me. Do you have any favorite quotes from Death’s Revival that you can share with us?

Crymsyn: “Resurrection? You mean you want me to come back to life after I died?”

“That sounds about right.”

“That’s Pixie. She was Jackson’s girlfriend.”

“Pixie! Like as in fairy. Oh my God,” I snorted. What was Jackson thinking getting involved with her? Then I remembered what she looked like. Thin, blond, decent sized chest, and green eyes with an innocent glow about her. “Damn him, always thinking with his dick.”

DJ: Now that Death’s Revival is released, what is next for you?

Crymsyn: I’m always writing and am on to my next book. Gotta get to the two hundred books written mark. Haha. Maybe in another ten years.

DJ: Where can readers find out more about you?

DJ: Before we go, what is that one thing you’d like readers to know about Death’s Revival that we haven’t talked about yet?

Crymsyn: Just that not all grim reapers are bad. Some of them are not exactly what you think they are. You shouldn’t be afraid of death.

DJ: Is there anything else you would like add?

Crymsyn: Just that I hope everyone has enjoyed these answers and wants to delve further into learning about grim reapers. Death isn’t the end.

DJ: Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to answer my questions!

About the Book:

Becoming a grim reaper was right up my alley. I enjoyed being dead. I helped souls crossover into either Heaven or Hell with my fellow reaper, Than. For two years, I enjoyed my life and then the killings started. Psychics were being murdered at haunted sites and souls disappearing.Someone was tampering with the fabric of the universe, trying to draw something evil into this world. To do that, the killer needed the souls of the psychics and the ghosts he could gather to open the doorway.I was charged with saving those souls and find out who the serial killer was. Yeah, being used as bait was definitely not my first choice, but who can kill a grim reaper?I’m already dead. With Than’s help, I’ll stop the evil from penetrating this world so I can get back to my soul gathering.

I mean the dead stay dead, right?

About the Book:

Being a psychic, you would think talking to the dead was a walk in the park. However, it’s not always that simple. The hooded specter haunting me is one I’ve been dreaming about since I was a kid. One day, he appeared in my bedroom mirror. Good. Evil. I don’t know what his true intentions are.

Enter Jackson, ghost hunting show host extraordinaire, and my ex, to save me from the big bad ghost.

From there…well…it’s been a world wind of complications. My house burnt down. I’m being stalked by an ancient evil and gotten myself back into the world of being a ghost hunting psychic. Jackson dragged me, along with a few other psychics, to a ghost town wiped off the map called Death’s Dance.

From there things went from bad to worse.

Death’s Dance is Book One of the Deathly Encounters Series
