The Friday Face-Off Winner is…

Hamish Hamilton – UK Cover

I’ll be honest here: not sure I could have picked a harder topic to come back to than this (of course, I saw this now, but I’m sure once I see everyone else’s…). A cover made up of only words or letters? I didn’t even know what to look for at first, so I just started scrolling through my Goodread book covers, when this one caught my eye!

Nothing particularly special about these covers . Thrown is a non-fiction book about the world of MMA in America. Which is why the US cover has the octagon and UK has the weight plate.

At first I did like the US cover, because it had some color red in there to make it pop, but now that I’m looking at it… it’s kinda clever how they spelled “THROWN” out on the plate and use the “O” as the center. And it kinda reminds me of Dharma 😉

Which cover do you think is the best?

This is a great choice for the theme this week. I actually can’t decide. I like both covers😁

  2. It’s hard to work out the title at first glance, the UK version kept making me want to read “Thorn” 🙂 But I have to pick your winner too, I like how the octagon draws the eye.

Oh, I think the octogon is a clear front-runner:). And congratulations for finding this particular book – as you say, this week’s theme did pose something of a challenge. Welcome back aboard. I always love visiting FF participants to see what they have produced.

  4. I like this meme, though I will never be able to remember the covers, leave alone write about it. The octogon looks better, I think?!? I am bad at this.

    • I just go into my Goodreads collection, have it so it only covers showing, set it to “infinite” scroll, and get looking! XD

You’re not bad at it though! All you have to do it pick your which one is your favorite – which you did!

You should join and do the one this Friday 🙂
