Book Collecting: Update #12

IMG_1039

Everyone of those books pictured above, I won in giveaways!

We are all book readers here and, deny it if you want, but you know you have a book buying problem, too! We can’t help it. We want to have all the book, and we all probably enter a number of giveaways each month, with the expectation that there is no chance at all we will win.

If I win just one book every couple months I’m incredible happy. A couple times I won 2 books in a single month and I felt the luckiest man alive. That right there is 5 books, in basically 1 month! That is no supposed to happen!

I felt the like The King of Giveaways XD

  • Prince of Fools (The Red Queens War #1) by Mark Lawrence
  • Storm and Steel (The Book of Black Earth #2) by Jon Sprunk

((Technically I won both of these giveaway in mid and then the end of June, but the both did not come in until July, so sake of the awesomeness, we’re going to call these July wins 🙂 ))

Thanks to Best Fantasy Books for the copy of Prince of Fools!

I loved The Broken Empire Trilogy earlier this year; it’s one of my favorite series! I’ll be excited to get started on this series when the times comes 🙂

Thanks to Bookwraiths for the copy of Storm and Steel!

I already have a copy of Blood and Iron, and now that I have the second book, I’ll probably start this series in the next couple months to be ready for the final book release next year.

  • Long Black Curl (Tufa #3) by Alex Bledsoe

Thanks to Fantasy Book Cafe for the copy of Long Black Curl!

Just easier last month, I had been saying how I’d wanted reading to read Alex Bledsoe, and thought that maybe this series would be a good start for me, because all the book can be read as stand alones.

  • The Fold by Peter Clines

Thanks to Fantasy Literature for a copy The Fold!

What’s cool about Fantasy Literature’s giveaways is that they let you choose any book from their giant list! I picked a hardcover edition of The Fold, but someone else who won a giveaway earlier, emailed that same choice in earlier that day, so I got an advanced uncorrected proof. But that’s okay 🙂

  • The Dinosaur Lords (The Dinosaur Lords #1) by Victor Milan

Thanks to My Bookish Ways for The Dinosaur Lords!

If could have picked one book to win this year, this probably would have been on the top of my list! I was beyond super excited when I found out. Also, I found out I won this one, that same day that I won The Fold from Fantasy Literature!

What’s the best month of giveaways you’ve ever had? What are some of your best giveaway wins? Have you read any of these book?

I honestly don’t know I could possibly ever have a better month of giveaways than this…

  3. Ooh, I’ve never checked out Fantasy Literature’s super sounding giveaways, thanks for the heads up! And haha, I never win this many. I think last summer I had a bout of wins, but usually I have the worst luck! You and Lisa and Tenacious Reader (who also wins a lot!) seem to be charmed, I tell ya 🙂

    • Fantasy Literature has a ton of giveaways each of them.

I almost felt bad about winning all these last month! I went to Readercon last month and got a ton of books there, then the following I week to the Tor signing and got new books again. I almost felt guilty about winning these on top of those, but then I though, since I bought all these new books this month, maybe winning these free books is the universe’s way of balancing things out again 😉

  5. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, Chyna! 🙂

Isn’t that cover such a mind-freak!? The same thing happened to me the first time I saw a copy of it online! I was so confused XD

Nice! 🙂 I’ve been seeing the Dinosaur Lords everywhere recently, it’s such a funny concept to me.
I love the Minion gif 😀
Umm the best book I ever won was Uprooted by Naomi Novik – the VERY pretty UK hardcover edition! I’ve never won more than one book a month, though!

    • Ah! Thank you! I was hoping someone would comment on my gif 😀

Uprooted is a great win! That book was literally on eighteen’s “best of” list for the first half the year. I foresee a lot awards for novel. The UK cover is very pretty. I’m a big of of those minimalistic designs.

    Happy reading.

  10. Wow that is a great, winning month! I don’t tend to enter a lot of giveaways, thus I don’t win many either. I hope you enjoy your new books. I’ve heard good things about The Dinosaur Lords by Victor Milan. I mean how cool is it to ride dinosaurs?! 🙂
