Merbeth-author-photo-1-240x300

Today I am interviewing K.S. Merbeth, author of the new post-apocalyptic novel Bite.

◊  ◊  ◊

DJ: Hey K.S.! Thanks for stopping by to do this interview!

For readers who aren’t familiar with you, could you tell us a little about yourself?

K.S. Merbeth: Hi, thanks for having me! I’m a proud nerd, cat enthusiast, and tragically unskilled gamer. I grew up in Tucson, Arizona, and recently moved to northern California. Bite is my first novel.

DJ: What is Bite about?

KSM: Bite begins with sixteen-year-old Kid wandering alone in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. She’s picked up by a crew of outlaws: foul-mouthed leader Wolf, quiet sharpshooter Dolly, scarred but warmhearted Tank, and good-looking but cowardly Pretty Boy. They introduce her to a lifestyle revolving around killing and looting, and soon prove to be magnets for trouble, despite claiming that they are the trouble. Continue reading

Author Interview: R.V. Johnson

61pQ9MPgiiL._UX250_

Today I am interviewing R.V. Johnson, author of the stunning epic fantasy novel, Beyond the Sapphire Gate, first book in The Flow of Power series. A fast-paced romp in the vein of Piers Anthony’s Robot Adept Series as one fan put it.

◊  ◊  ◊

DJ: Hey R.V.! Thanks for stopping by to do this interview!

For readers who aren’t familiar with you, could you tell us a little about yourself?

R.V. Johnson: When I’m not writing or on social media, I read. I’m that someone who has a book with him, even while camping and hiking in the great outdoors. Outside is where I like to spend the rest of my free time, in the forest, at the lake, and rock climbing in the desert. And, let’s not forget sport off-roading. Four wheel drives and ATVs are a blast.

DJ: What is the Beyond the Sapphire Gate about?

RVJ: Coming into her power, Crystalyn unintentionally opens a curtain of darkness between a pair of sapphire obelisks with a travel symbol. Her younger sister Jade, the one person she cares most about having raised her since their mother went missing touches the gateway, and vanishes. Crystalyn follows, developing her powers in a land where strife, warfare, and magic use are rampant. The search grows ever desperate as she learns each symbol use is killing her. Though a political Circle of Light of magic users and an ominous Dark Citadel of warlords and their dark creations block the way, she must go on. Time is fast flowing away from both her and Jade’s well-being with far more at stake than they both know. Continue reading

Author Interview: Jon Hollins

28246424

Today I am interviewing Jon Hollins, author of the new, debut fantasy novel, The Dragon Lords: Fool’s Gold, first book in the Dragon Lords series.

◊  ◊  ◊

DJ: Hey Jon! Thanks for stopping by to do this interview!

For readers who aren’t familiar with you, could you tell us a little about yourself?

Jon Hollins: Quite alright. Thanks so much for having me. As for who I am, I’m officially a pseudonym, which means that I can’t give too much away without discarding my seductive cloak of secrecy and shadow. (Could I also be James Patterson slumming it…? No. No, unfortunately I could not). However, I can reveal that I’m a dad, a gamer, and a lifelong sf and fantasy nerd. I’m also an English transplant to Long Island’s sunny shores. Tantalizing clues, I know.

DJ: What is The Dragon Lords: Fool’s Gold about?

JH: I think the shortest summary I can give is “idiots making poor decisions.” More satisfyingly, it’s the story of a farmer, a vicious mercenary, her lizard-man companion, a mage in denial of her powers, and a village drunk attempting to steal a large amount of gold from a dragon. Of all the things that go wrong for them, the worst is probably that they succeed. Continue reading

Author Interview: Laurence MacNaughton

Untitled1Today I am interviewing Laurence MacNaughton, author of the new urban fantasy novel, It Happened One Doomsday.

◊  ◊  ◊

DJ: Hey Laurence! Thanks for stopping by to do this interview!

For readers who aren’t familiar with you, could you tell us a little about yourself?

Laurence MacNaughton: I’m an urban fantasy author, and It Happened One Doomsday is the start of my brand-new series. I’ve also written a couple of supernatural thrillers (Conspiracy of Angels and The Spider Thief). I’ve been writing ever since I found an old black manual typewriter as a kid, and I haven’t stopped yet.

DJ: What is It Happened One Doomsday about?

LM: It’s about a nerdy crystal shop owner who must discover her magic to break the curse on a hunky muscle-car mechanic before he causes a fiery doomsday.

Publishers Weekly calls it “fascinating.” Library Journal calls it “engaging.” RT Book Reviews says it’s “a terrific new find.” To be honest, I wasn’t prepared for this much attention. I’m just glad people enjoy reading it! Continue reading

Author Interview: Rachel Dunne

8339367Today I am interviewing Rachel Dunne, author of the new epic fantasy novel, In the Shadow of the Gods, the first book in the Bound Gods series.

◊  ◊  ◊

DJ: Hey Rachel! Thanks for stopping by to do this interview!

For readers who aren’t familiar with you, could you tell us a little about yourself?

Rachel Dunne: I’m happy to be here! I’m a debut author, with In the Shadow of the Gods out for a few weeks now, but I’ve been writing my whole life. It’s just a part of who I am, so actually having a book published is a dream come true. I live in the Midwest, which means I spend a lot of time indoors, but I’ve got a giant dog who keeps me on my toes.

DJ: What is the In the Shadow of the Gods about?

RD: The basis for the story is that, centuries ago, a pair of gods called the Twins were cast down and locked away. There are two groups in the world they left behind: one group trying to free the Twins, and the other trying to make sure they stay locked away. The story follows a few people from each of these groups, and there’s a lot of grey morality—there’s no good or bad side, and sometimes it’s not even clear which side each character is on. Author Interview and Excerpts: Elizabeth Forkey

81z52lT8RQL._UX250_

Today I am interviewing Elizabeth Forkey, author of the YA Christian thriller novel, Immaculate, second book and of the Infectious series.

◊  ◊  ◊

DJ: Hey Elizabeth! Thanks for stopping by to do this interview!

For readers who aren’t familiar with you, could you tell us a little about yourself?

Elizabeth Forkey: Thanks for having me! I’m a wife and mom of two sweet girls (one of them is fifteen so she’s sweet on and off) and I wear a lot of other hats as well. I’m a sugar artist and chocolate sculptor, a painter, and a nanny to the sweetest baby ever. I help lead worship at my church, and I help lead a Sunday school class. I also occasionally do some chainsaw carving…

DJ: What is Immaculate about? What can readers of the series expect in the latest installment? Anything new? Any surprises?

EF: IMMACULA†E is the second installment of Ivy’s story. Ivy has gotten herself into a lot of trouble and is in way over her head. There are some very big surprises that I won’t give away, but as always, Ivy’s story is an adventure that is guided by God’s gracious hand. As far away as she sometimes feels and as big as her trials get (she’s in some very deep doo-doo in IMMACULA†E), God is always right next to her, leading and protecting. IMMACULA†E is a Young Adult love story, and Tim and Matt are both incredible guys (for the longest time I wasn’t sure myself who she’d end up with), but ultimately the underlying theme of Ivy’s life and love is her relationship with her Creator. That’s the real love story. Continue reading
