Reading Statistical Breakdown – A look at all my reading from the first 6 months of the year
Readercon 26 – I went to a SF/F/H book convention!
What I Watched
- Kuroko’s Basketball – (FAVORITE) Finished season 3 and the whole series!
- Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma – Getting pretty good
- Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? – Finished season 1! Waiting for season 2… It not this summer’s list
- Californicaton – I watched the first 3 episodes. I’m interested. Is it worth continuing? It has a lot of seasons.
- Master Chef – I look forward to this show every week.
There are a few new anime for the summer season, too. Haven’t started watching any of them yet, but they should me in next month’s recap.
Have you been watching any of these?
Upcoming Reviews
Should be A Darkling Sea by James L. Cambias, Dark Eden by Chris Beckett, Uncanny Magazine #5, and then Superposition David Walton. Comics will be Starve, Mulan: Revelations, and another new series, Death Head.
Next Escapes?
Currently reading The Dinosaur Lords by Victor Milan. I want to continue reading The Dark Tower series, but:
I’m supposed to have a review copy of Superposition and Supersymetty coming in that I want to get read and reviewed.
I singed up for beta-reading for Michael J. Sullivan, and I’ll find out Aug 7 if I am a participant or not. (Hope I get picked!)
Richard A. Knaak is working on an advanced promotion for his novel, Black City Saint, and I was able to received a PDF of that. He’s going to be checking back in sometime this month, so, I’d I like to get that read as soon as possible. I enjoyed his series, Diablo: The Sin War Trilogy, and I hope I like this one too!
And(!) I have to fit my backlist burndown somewhere in there too.
What do you plan on reading?
Bonus
On Sunday night and Monday morning (or probably today, when this gets posted) I will be in New Jersey. Because I have a book problem, I checked Yelp for any nearby used books stores and I found one! It’s called The Book Trader. Looks at some of pictures! If I get my business gets done there early in the day (it’s a 5 hour ride home) I may check that store out 🙂
Then on Friday afternoon I will be in New York, right down the street from the Empire State building! (I never been to New York and am so excited!) I’m not going to book shopping then, but you now what else is right down street? Unami Burger! This is the burger joint that influenced the infamously delicious burger from Soda Pop Soldier by Nick Cole (my review). So, yeah – I’ll be stopping there after.
This month was also the best month for blog ever, so far! Highest views, visitors, view per visitor ratio, likes, and comments – everything! Each one of these BLEW the previous best out of the water. I don’t know what I did differently too, of course XD Ha ha
And I got my 200th Like Trophy. Which happened to clicked by Lisa @ Tenacious Reader 🙂

Thank you everyone, oh so very much(!), who has taken time to read, like, comment, subscribe, share, or even just look at anything on my blog 🙂
It’s the last month of summer! Go out there and make that reading count!

Looks like a good month of sci-fi coming up on your blog this month 🙂
And I’m so glad to hear you had a good experience with your first ever audiobook. I know my first experience wasn’t so great, it took several listens (and a very good narrator) to finally make me see the light. Now I don’t think I can live without them! 😀

Yeah, I guess so! Didn’t even realize that 🙂
Technically this was my third short a audiobook. I’ve gotten about 3/4 way through Influx by Daniel Suarez twice. I think because this was novella, and only like 4 1/2 hours longs, was why I was able to get through it. Not sure if I’m going to go and buy another anytime soon, but I would be against listening to one again.

Next time you are in NJ, If you feel like road tripping from New Jersey to Brooklyn, you should check out Singularity http://singularity.co/index.php/shio/visit-us-in-brooklyn. And yay! for being your 200th like 🙂 Happy to help! We watched the first few seasons of Californication, but then just kinda stopped. I am not sure if the quality of the show went down or if we tired of it, or a bit of both.

That place look AMAZING!!! I checked out some of it photos on Yelp and Facebook, too. Man, I wish I could have gone! You even been there before?
I going to be in NYC Friday, but I’m taking a train and bus, in and out, other wise I would drive down to this place.
That place I had planned on going to had a sign on the door saying they moved to a new location. I then drove that new location only to find out they were still moving in and closed!! 😦

I have been there! It’s walkable from NYC, just stroll across the Brooklyn bridge and it is right there 🙂 But if you are only there for the day, you may not have time for a stroll across the bridge.
Sorry to hear the other place was closed!

I’m not even there for a day; basically 4 hours only Ha ha. I already have a bus ticket home and IF my interview gets on time I’ll only have about an 1 1/2 until my bus leaves 😦 The walk to the store is a little too far comfort.
I might be going back there next month though! If I am, I will plan accordingly so I can browse 🙂
